Miguel Harth-Bedoya -

Los Angeles Philharmonic Associate Conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya is one of America's most exciting young conductors.  Currently Music Director of the Fort Worth Symphony, he also serves as Music Director of the Auckland Philharmonia in New Zealand.  In North America, his active guest-conducting schedule includes appearances with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Oregon Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Toronto Symphony, and the St Paul Chamber Orchestra.  Abroad, he has appeared with the Birmingham Symphony, Swedish Radio Orchestra, NDR Orchestra (both Hamburg and Hanover), Madrid National Orchestra, and the Jerusalem Symphony, among others.  Festival appearances include Ravinia, Tanglewood, BBC proms, Hollywood Bowl (for which he received an Emmy), Interlochen, Oregon Bach, Avanti (Helsinki) and Adelaide.

Equally at home in opera, Harth-Bedoya recently conducted the world premiere of Stephen Paulus's new opera, Heloise & Abelard, at The Julliard School.  He has also directed numerous productions with the New Opera Company of Peru, including La Boheme, Le Nozze di Figaro, Xerxes, Die Listige Witwe, and La Sonnambula.  In Italy, he led this century's first performance of Martin y Soler's Il Tutore Burlato.  The performance was subsequently recorded for the Bongiovanni label in Bologna.

Past music directorships include the Eugene Symphony in Oregon and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Lima.  He also led the Julliard Orchestra on highly successful tours of France and Japan, and has collaborated with such distinguished soloists as Mstsislav Rostropovich, Isaac Stern, Gary Graffman, and Joshua Bell.

Born in Lima, Peru, Muguel Harth-Bedoya holds degrees in conducting from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Julliard School.
