The main building of the Brooklyn Academy of Music is located at 30 Lafayette Avenue between Ashland Place and St. Felix Street, and houses the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, BAMcafe and BAM Rose Cinemas. The BAM Harvey Theater is located a block and a half away at 651 Fulton Street between Ashland Place and Rockwell Place.

BAMbus
The BAMbus offers a round-trip service from Manhattan to Brooklyn, departing one hour before every BAM performance, unless otherwise noted, from the Whitney Museum at Altria, 120 Park Avenue at East 42nd Street. Immediately following performances, the bus stops at the intersection of Houston and the Bowery, at Astor Place, and proceeds up Third Avenue stopping at 23rd, 34th, 42nd 51st, 60th 72nd and 86th Streets, after which it will cross over to Broadway and stops at 86th, 72nd and 57th Streets and Ninth Avenue.

Bus fare each way is $4 for Subscribers, Friends of BAM, and students with valid ID, all others pay $5. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance, stand-by space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 718.636.4100 for information and reservations.

NOTE: The BAMbus does not run for the following events, unless explicitly noted: BAMfamily, DanceAfrica, 651, Brooklyn Philharmonic or rental engagements.

Subway and Rail

All subway service and information on whether stations are open or closed is subject to change. Please consult the MTA website at www.mta.nyc.ny.us for the latest updates.

BAM is located within three blocks of most subway lines, making it easy to get to from all parts of Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx. We are in walking distance from the 2,3,4,5,Q, N, R, W, M, G, and C trains.

East Side Manhattan to the BAM Opera House:
Take the 4/5 train to Atlantic Avenue, walk one block past the clock tower, down Ashland Place to 30 Lafayette Avenue.

East Side Manhattan to the BAM Harvey Theater:
Take the 4/5 train to Nevins Street, walk one block north to 651 Fulton Street.

West Side Manhattan to the BAM Opera House:
Take the 2/3 or Q train to Atlantic Avenue, walk one block past the clock tower, down Ashland Place to 30 Lafayette Avenue.

West Side Manhattan to the BAM Harvey Theater:
Take the 2/3 train to Nevins Street, walk one block north to 651 Fulton Street.

-- The Q Local and Q Express trains also stop at Atlantic Avenue.
-- The N, R, W, and M trains stop at Pacific Street.
-- The G Train stops at Fulton Street.
-- The C Train stops at Lafayette Avenue.

From Long Island:
Take the LIRR to Flatbush Avenue (Atlantic Avenue Subway Station). See walking directions above.

Car and Taxi

Via Brooklyn Bridge:
Continue straight off the Bridge, make left onto Tillary Street, turn right onto Flatbush Avenue, proceed to Fulton Street. Make a left onto Fulton and drive one block: the BAM Harvey Theater will be on the left, parking on your right. For BAM Opera House proceed two blocks to Ashland Place, and make right, Parking is immediately to your right.

Via Manhattan Bridge:
Continue straight off the Bridge onto Flatbush Avenue, proceed to Fulton Street. Turn left onto Fulton Street and drive one block: the BAM Harvey Theater will be on the left, parking on your right. For BAM Opera House proceed two blocks to Ashland Place, make right, parking is immediately to your right.

From Long Island: Take the LIE to the BQE, take the BQE to Exit 29, which is Tillary Street. Take Tillary Street to Flatbush Avenue, and make left onto Flatbush Avenue proceed to Fulton Street. Turn left onto Fulton Street and drive one block: the BAM Harvey Theater will be on the left, parking on your right. For BAM Opera House proceed two blocks to Ashland Place, make right, parking is immediately to your right.

From Queens:
Take the BQE to Exit 29, which is Tillary Street. Take Tillary Street to Flatbush Avenue, make left onto Flatbush Avenue proceed to Fulton Street. Turn left onto Fulton Street and drive one block: the BAM Harvey Theater will be on the left and parking on your right. For BAM Opera House proceed two blocks to Ashland Place, make right, parking is immediately to your right.

From New Jersey/Staten Island:
From the Verrazano Bridge merge onto I-278 East/Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. On I-278/BQE take exit number 27 (Atlantic Avenue). Proceed east on Atlantic Avenue approximately 1 mile and turn left onto Bond Street. Proceed on Bond Street for two blocks and turn left onto Third Avenue. Third Avenue will become Lafayette Avenue as you cross Flatbush Avenue. BAM is one block ahead. The BAM parking lots are on your right and left via Ashland Place.

Parking

BAM has two parking lots operated by GGMC Parking. Lot 1 is located on Ashland Place between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue, between the main BAM building and the BAM Harvey Theater. Lot 1 has one entrance on Ashland Place and another at the corner of Rockwell Place and Fulton Street, convenient for those attending performances at the BAM Harvey Theater. Lot 2 is located off the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Ashland Place, with an entrance on Ashland Place, and is closer to the main BAM building.

Parking on mainstage performance evenings or matinees, and BAM Rose Cinemas, BAMcafé, or another BAM event during a mainstage event, is $15.00. If you are attending BAM Rose Cinemas, BAMcafé, or another BAM event at a time when there is not a mainstage event, the parking rate is $5. Daytime parking rates are posted at both parking lots
